The Reality

Why Patios Crack and Leak

Adding a patio cover involves more than just shade; it changes how your home handles water and weight. If a contractor bolts a heavy cover to your fascia board without proper support, it pulls the roof down, causing rot and leaks. On the ground, concrete poured without proper steel reinforcement snaps when the clay soil shifts. We engineer our outdoor structures to be as durable as the main house.

Improper roof tie-ins cause leaks and structural sag

The Protocol

Engineered Outdoor Living

We treat your patio as a structural addition, not an afterthought. We focus on drainage, reinforcement, and seamless integration.

The Foundation

Reinforced Concrete Slabs

Concrete fails when the ground moves. We install steel rebar grids inside every slab we pour, rather than relying on cheap wire mesh. For heavy structures, we drill deep concrete piers to ensure your patio doesn't sink or separate from the house over time.

Structural Roof Tie-Ins

We don't just bolt lumber to your gutters. We open the roof and tie the new patio beams directly into your home’s existing top plate. This creates a seamless, leak-proof connection that looks like it was built with the house.

Heat Defense

A patio is useless if it's too hot. We use insulated roof systems and proper ventilation to reflect the Texas sun, keeping your outdoor seating area significantly cooler than a standard aluminum cover.

Keep Your Cash Reserves Intact

Preserving your cash flow is just as important as protecting your home. We offer plans with 0% interest and terms up to 15 years, allowing you to get forensic-quality work today without the heavy upfront cost.

$0 Down to Start

While 90% of contractors demand 50% cash upfront, we start your project for free. You don't pay a dime until the work begins.

0% Interest for 24 Months

Treat your project like a cash purchase but pay over time. Spread the cost over two full years with absolutely zero interest charged.

Terms Up to 180 Months

Keep your monthly overhead low. We offer extended terms up to 15 years, often resulting in payments lower than a standard utility bill.

Step by Step

How a Patio Job Works With TGR

No pressure. No surprises. One crew builds the slab, the cover and the utilities, so nothing falls through the cracks between subcontractors.

One

Free design consultation

We visit your home, measure the space, look at your roofline and talk through how you actually want to use the patio. You get a design concept and a clear scope, not a generic quote pulled from a price list.

Two

Honest proposal

We show you the full plan: dimensions, materials, electrical and gas layout, and what it will cost. No pressure. No upsell. If your soil needs extra footings or your roof tie-in is more complex than expected, we tell you upfront.

Three

HOA & permits

HOA submission goes first, the city permit second, construction third. We handle the permit process for you, so the paperwork is done before the first shovel goes in the ground.

Four

Slab & footings

We set the drainage slope before the pour and install steel rebar grids inside every slab, rather than relying on cheap wire mesh. For heavy structures, we drill deep concrete piers. The slab is poured to the cover's spec.

Five

Frame, tie in & wire

We tie the new patio beams directly into your home's existing top plate for a seamless, leak-proof connection, finish the insulated roof and run the electrical and gas inside the structure.

Six

Walk-through, then you pay

Walk the finished patio with us. Test the fans, check the lighting, look at every joint and every finish. With our $0 Down Payment policy, you pay nothing until your backyard retreat is ready.

Straight Answers

Houston Patio FAQs

The questions Houston homeowners ask us most before a new patio goes in.

Do you give free estimates?

Yes. We visit your home, measure the space and look at your roofline, then you get a design concept and a clear plan: what it takes and what it costs. Nothing hidden. Nothing inflated.

What warranty comes with a new patio?

Every single project is backed by our Lifetime Transferable Warranty. Because one contractor builds the slab and the cover in-house instead of using scattered subcontractors, you don't get stuck with a bunch of confusing, overlapping warranties. If our workmanship fails, we come back and fix it.

What size patio cover do I need?

Size it to how you'll use it. A dining table, an outdoor kitchen and a seating area around a fire pit each need their own space, plus room to walk around them. On the consultation we measure your yard, talk through the furniture and grill you plan to use, and design the slab and cover around that footprint, matched to your roofline.

Can you extend my existing concrete patio?

Yes. We pour concrete extensions with steel rebar grids inside every slab, rather than relying on cheap wire mesh, and set the drainage slope before the pour so water runs away from your home. When a cover is part of the plan, the slab is poured to the cover's spec.

Why do patio slabs crack in Houston?

Houston's clay soil swells when it rains and shrinks when it dries. Concrete poured without proper steel reinforcement snaps when that soil shifts, and a slab without a proper drainage slope sends water toward your foundation. Rebar, piers for heavy structures and a slope set before the pour prevent both.

Attached or freestanding: which patio cover is right for me?

Both work. An attached cover extends your roofline, so we open the roof and tie the new beams into your home's existing top plate instead of bolting lumber to the fascia, which pulls the roof down and causes leaks. A freestanding cover stands on its own footings anywhere in the yard. We design either one around your home so it looks like it was always there.

Do I need a permit or HOA approval for a patio cover?

Most attached patio covers in Houston need a building permit, and HOA approval runs on a separate timeline. The right order is HOA submission first, city permit second, construction third. We handle the permit process for you. Read our covered patio guide.

Can you run gas and electrical into the patio cover?

Yes. Our crew handles gas lines for grills and heaters, and electrical for outlets, LED lighting and ceiling fans. Everything runs inside the structure so there are no exposed conduits or extension cords.

Do you require a deposit?

No. With our $0 Down Payment policy, you pay nothing until your backyard retreat is ready. No deposits. No progress payments. No liens filed against your home.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry a $2 Million General Liability policy and Worker’s Compensation coverage to protect your home and our crew. We are happy to provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) directly from our provider with your name on it before we step foot on your property.
