Why TGR

Two Attic Jobs, One Team

An attic conversion touches framing, stairs, electrical, cooling, insulation, drywall, flooring and paint. Insulation is part of every conversion, and it is also a job on its own. We handle both under one plan instead of a string of separate contractors.

$0 Down

No deposit is required to begin work. You pay when the work is complete and you're satisfied.

In-House Crew

Our own crews handle the attic, trade by trade, run by one project manager from the first visit to the final walk-through.

Lifetime Transferable Warranty

Every single project is backed by our Lifetime Transferable Warranty.

Planning

What Every Attic Project Needs

Before we quote a conversion or an insulation job, we check the same things in your attic, and we answer them in writing before any work begins.

Headroom and Floor Space

A finished attic room needs a ceiling of at least 7 feet and at least 70 square feet of floor, and only the parts with a ceiling of 5 feet or more count toward that floor.

Floor Framing and Stairs

Attic floors are often built only to hold a ceiling. Living space needs joists sized for people and furniture, plus a fixed stairway, not a pull-down ladder.

Heat and Cooling

Houston attics get very hot in summer. A new room needs insulation behind its walls and ceiling, and a plan to cool it, before the drywall goes up.

Escape Window and Permits

A habitable attic needs an emergency escape window, and a conversion needs building permits. We handle the permits as part of the project.

Step by Step

How an Attic Project Works

No pressure. No surprises. We look at what is already in your attic before we plan anything new.

One

Free attic inspection

We go up into the attic with you and measure the headroom, then look at the framing, the roof deck, the ventilation and the insulation that is there now.

Two

Plan and proposal

We plan the room or the insulation level, the materials and the order of every trade, then show you what it will cost. No pressure. No upsell.

Three

Permits and scheduling

We handle the permits a conversion needs and schedule every trade under one project manager.

Four

Framing and stairs

For a conversion, the floor framing is reinforced where it needs to be, the stairway goes in, and the walls and escape window are framed.

Five

Insulation and finishes

Electrical, cooling, insulation, drywall, flooring and paint go in. On an insulation-only job, air gaps are sealed and the new insulation goes in to the planned depth.

Six

Walk-through, then you pay

Walk the finished space with us and check every detail. With our $0 Down Payment policy, you pay nothing until the work is complete.

Straight Answers

Attic Conversion & Insulation FAQs

The questions Houston homeowners ask us most before the work starts.

Can my attic be turned into a room?

Often, yes. It depends on the headroom, the floor framing and where a stairway can go. Building codes call for a ceiling of at least 7 feet and at least 70 square feet of floor in a habitable room. We measure all of it on the first visit and tell you plainly whether your attic works.

Do I need a permit to convert an attic?

Yes. Turning an attic into living space needs building permits, and many Houston-area neighborhoods also have HOA rules. A finished attic also needs an emergency escape window and a fixed stairway. We handle the permits as part of the project.

Can you remodel the rest of the house at the same time?

Yes. The company is structured to manage multiple scopes of work on the same home under one coordinated project plan. Complete home remodeling.

How much attic insulation does a Houston home need?

Houston is in ENERGY STAR climate zone 2. ENERGY STAR recommends bringing an uninsulated attic in this zone up to about R49, or adding about R38 if you already have 3 to 4 inches. We check what is in your attic now and recommend the level that makes sense for your home.

Will new insulation make my house cooler?

Insulation slows the heat coming down from a hot attic into your rooms, so your AC has less to fight. It works best with the air gaps sealed and the attic properly ventilated, which is why we check both. If the AC itself is struggling, we look at that too. AC repair and replacement.

Do you require a deposit?

No. With our $0 Down Payment policy, you pay nothing until the work is complete. Texas Greatest Remodelers does not require deposits to start work and does not file liens simply to begin a project.

Is attic work covered by your warranty?

Yes. Every single project is backed by our Lifetime Transferable Warranty, and work managed by Texas Greatest Remodelers is covered under a single warranty instead of multiple warranties from different contractors. How our warranty works.

Can I finance an attic conversion?

Yes. We offer plans with 0% interest and terms up to 15 years, and the loan funds only after you verify the quality of the work. All financing is subject to credit approval by the third-party lender. See our financing options.

Are you insured?

Absolutely. We carry a $2 Million General Liability policy and Worker’s Compensation coverage to protect your home and our crew. We are happy to provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) directly from our provider with your name on it before we step foot on your property.

Do you give free estimates?

Yes. We come to your home, look at the work with you and give you a clear plan for what it takes. Nothing hidden. Nothing inflated.
